New Delhi: Hindu Raksha Dal (HRD) chief Bhupinder Tomar alias Pinky Chaudhary who is an accused in the Jantar Mantar sloganeering case, released a video stating that he would surrender before the police on Tuesday at the Connaught Place police station at around 12 pm and cooperate with the investigation. Earlier, the HRD chief's petition seeking anticipatory bail was rejected by the court. It is known that an alleged viral video of objectionable slogans being raised during a protest at Jantar Mantar had led to a massive uproar, following which the Delhi Police registered a case in this connection.
On August 10, Chaudhary had also released a video claiming that the Hindu Raksha Dal takes responsibility in connection with the controversial slogan-raising incident that took place during the Bharat Jodo Movement. In the video, he was heard saying that the government should forgive those who resorted to sloganeering adding that they are all HRD activists.

Chaudhary had been evading arrest since a case had been filed against him for promoting enmity between various groups and also for having defied Covid guidelines. He said that he would fully cooperate with the police in the investigation, adding that he will go to Court and will not abscond. The HRD leader also rubbished the allegations made against him and appealed to everyone to cooperate with him. However, he made it clear that his movement will not stop, even if he goes to jail.
A rally was organized at Jantar Mantar by a Supreme Court advocate on August 8, despite permission being denied by the Delhi Police. Hundreds of people took part in the rally and videos of the demonstration went viral, wherein several objectionable slogans against a religious community were allegedly made. It is also learnt that the program was organized under the Bharat Jodo Movement, and was held in a bid to demand the abolition of some laws of the British era.
BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay and five others were also arrested for having allegedly made inflammatory remarks at the event.
