Awantipora (Jammu & Kashmir): Police and the security forces in a joint operation on Thursday apprehended an active Hizbul Mujahideen militant from the Androosa Khrew area, Awantipora in Kashmir. The militant was identified as Shahid Ahmed Khanday from Mandakpal in Khrew.
As per a statement released by the Awantipora police, 50 Rashtriya Rifles Unit of the Indian Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) found suspicious movement in an orchard that was earlier cordoned off. The militant tried to give the forces a slip, however, was later apprehended. Incriminating material, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from his possession, the police said.
