New Delhi: As the Opposition parties had a breakfast meeting, on Tuesday, the Congress party called it a "historic day" claiming that it is a "trailer of 2024", hinting towards the formation of a united Opposition front for the General Elections.
While speaking to the media, Congress MP and senior spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, "Today 15 parties were present in the meeting which represents more than 60 per cent of India's population, across the board, across the political spectrum. This was an extremely cordial, intimate, free-flowing, candid meeting and discussion. There was just one single word which was at the uppermost of everybody's list and that is unity."

Earlier today, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hosted a breakfast for Opposition party MPs of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha at the Constitution Club where a strategy was chalked out to corner the government on various issues including Pegasus, farm laws and inflation.
While invitations were being sent to 17 Like-Minded parties, 15 parties and more than 100 MPs attended this meeting. Aam Admi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party opted out to be a part of this meeting given the upcoming Assembly Polls.
"It is a historic day because it is a trailer of 2024. This shows you the new resolve, direction and momentum of determination and writ. It is based upon whatever Mr Modi and his various departments will do, we will not be deterred. We will proceed unitedly without fear. Be it Pegasus, fuel price hike, farmers issue or anything else," Singhvi asserted.
While speaking about AAP and BSP, the Congress MP said, "All the parties have taken a clear stand to portray unity, leaving behind the ideological and political differences. I want to request the other parties as well to come and join hands to raise the voice against the Central government's behaviour towards the people of this country on various issues."

After the meeting, all Opposition MPs took out a "Cycle Yatra" to reach the Parliament as a mark of protest against the fuel price hike.
Taking a jibe at the Center, Singhvi said, "The idea is very clear and symbolic. Thank God, various parts of the cycle are still untouched. We do not know when the prices of essential parts of the cycle will rise unapologetically. Inside Parliament, we are not allowed to speak. Therefore we took out this cycle yatra because both hiked prices and Mr Modi are injurious to the health of the nation."
