Indore connected with Dubai by direct flight

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya inaugurated a direct flight between Indore, the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh, and Dubai. Apart from this, direct flights from Indore to Gwalior, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Nagpur have also started.

Indore: A new direct flight service between Indore and Dubai started Wednesday in what is yet another gift from Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to Madhya Pradesh.

People of Indore have long been demanding direct flight services to Dubai. After flight operations across the country were suspended last year during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, now Indore has become the 10th city in the country to have a direct flight connection with Dubai.

The Air India flight will come Bengaluru to Indore and from Indore it will fly directly to Dubai. Departing from Dubai in the evening, the flight will reach Indore at night.

Apart from this, direct flights from Indore to Gwalior, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Nagpur have also started from Wednesday.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya participated via virtual mode in a function to mark the launch of the new flights.

Chouhan said that he had discussed with Scindia the issue of making Indore an international airport.

“It is necessary for the state to have international airports in Indore and Bhopal,” the Chief Minister said. “Jyotiraditya Scindia said that 53 days have passed since he took over the Civil Aviation Ministry. During this time, 58 flights have been given to Madhya Pradesh.”

Scindia also said that since he took over the ministry, the number of air freights movement in the state reached 738.

“Earlier, there were direct flights from Indore to eight cities. Now there are direct flights to 13 cities,” he said and sought allotment of land from the government for runway extension.
