While speaking to the media, Srinivas said, "For the first time in the history of the country, it is happening that on one hand the car of the son of a Minister deliberately tramples on the farmers and the ruling party of the country seems to be standing not with the farmers but against them. This reminded us of the British rule."

"This has been done under a well-planned conspiracy so that an atmosphere of fear is created among the farmers," he alleged. IYC General Secretary Bhaiya Pawar said to ETV Bharat that even after 6 days since the incident took place, the Union Minister has still not been sacked. He asserted that the Youth Congress is demanding from this Government to sack the minister immediately and to arrest his son, Ashish Mishra.

In the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, 8 people died, out of which 4 were farmers allegedly knocked down by a vehicle carrying BJP workers. Farmers claimed that Ashish Mishra was driving one of those cars.
