1. SC panel to meet State govts, farm unions from today

The Supreme Court-appointed committee on farmers’ issues has decided to meet with State governments and State Agricultural Marketing Boards along with farm unions and cooperatives to seek their views on the farm reform laws, starting January 21. The panel has laid out a two-month roadmap for consultations after their first meeting on Tuesday.

2. India to send 1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Nepal today

India will be sending one million doses of coronavirus vaccine to Nepal on January 21 under VaccineMaitri. As part of India's Neighbourhood First policy, till now Bhutan and Maldives have been sent the gift of coronavirus vaccines. India will be supplying vaccines on a gratis basis to Bhutan, Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar and Seychelles from January 20 onwards

3. Yediyurappa likely to allocate portfolios to new ministers today

Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Tuesday indicated that he will allocate portfolios to seven newly inducted Ministers into his cabinet on January 21. Speculations are rife that the Chief Minister may reallocate portfolios to certain other Ministers in the cabinet whose strength is now 33.

4. BJP chief Nadda may visit Lucknow today

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda may make a two-day trip to Lucknow beginning January 21 for meetings with party leaders and workers. He is expected to also meet ministers, MPs and MLAs to discuss an issue related to the government and the organisation.

5. Universities in Punjab to reopen from today

All government and private universities in Punjab will reopen on January 21 after over 10 months of closure due to the COVID-19 induced lockdown. As per a statement, the Punjab Government has decided to reopen all the government, aided and non-aided colleges including all the government and private universities from January 21.
