Rajouri (J&K): The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of the Indian Army averted a major tragedy on Saturday with the timely detection and defusal of a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in J&K's border district of Rajouri. According to officials, the IED was planted at around 9:10AM by suspected militants was found under a culvert at Bathooni-Dilogra on the Jammu-Rajouri National Highway. Following the incident, the complete stretch of the highway was cordoned off and a massive search operation is on to nab the militants.
The developments led to the traffic on the vital road link remain suspended for over three hours. According to security personnel, it is believed that the IED was fixed during the intervening night. After having spotted the IED, the bomb disposal squad experts removed the IED from the road and took it to a secluded place in the nearby forest and later detonated it in a controlled explosion without causing any damage.
