Morena (Madhya Pradesh): A high alert has been issued in several villages of Madhya Pradesh's Chambal region as the water levels of Quarri and Chambal rivers have crossed the danger mark, due to incessant rains in the region for the past three days. This is the first time since 1971, that the water level of Quarri river has risen 10 meters above the normal level on par with river Chambal. Hundreds of villages close to the rivers have now been evacuated, with villagers being shifted to safer places with the help of tractor tubes.
In MP's Morena, seven people were airlifted by the Army using helicopters. Also, the Gwalior-Chambal region, especially Sheopur and Shivpuri districts, have been worst affected by the floods. In Ratangarh village of Datia district, a bridge got washed away due to strong currents generated by Sindh river, which has been flooded due to the heavy rainfall.
