Rajouri (Jammu & Kashmir): Two militants were neutralised in a joint operation by security forces and police in a forest area of Thanamandi in Rajouri, 16 Corps of the Indian Army said. It said the operation in underway.
A fierce gunfight broke out between militants and security forces earlier today after the joint team launched a cordon and search operation on a tip-off that militants had been hiding there. As they arrived at the spot, the militants opened fire and was retailed by the forces, triggering a gunfight.
Speaking with ETV Bharat, Mukesh Singh, IGP, Jammu, said that on specific inputs about the presence of three to four militants in the area, the search operation was launched and two militants were neutralised in the initial gunfight.
