Dahod (Gujarat): Two teenaged girls were allegedly verbally abused and beaten up by a group of men for speaking on their mobile phones in Gujarat's Dahod district. After the video recordings of the incident went viral on social media, police registered an FIR against 12 accused, including relatives of the girls, at Dhanpur police station.
The incident is said to have occurred on June 25. The video shows the men surrounding the girls verbally abusing and beating them up. According to police, the accused have been booked under sections 143 and 149 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 504 (insult causing to break public peace) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and under relevant provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.

Earlier this month, a 23-year-old tribal woman from Khajuri village in Dhanpur taluka was stripped and paraded naked by her husband and other villagers for her extra-marital affair. The woman who had eloped with another man was traced and brought back to the village. She was also forced to carry her husband on her shoulders and walk. Police registered an FIR and arrested the woman's husband and 18 others after the video of the incident went viral on social media.
