General Qamar Javed Bajwa takes stock of Pak Army exercise opposite Jaisalmer

Pakistan Army is conducting a military exercise on the international border in front of the Longewala area of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa also visited Pano Aqil Cantonment today. He was briefed about the operational preparedness and the desert formation training in the area. This exercise followed in the wake of the Indian Army exercise in Bikaner on 21 September.

Jaisalmer: Pakistan Army is conducting a military exercise on the international border in front of the Longewala area of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa also visited Pano Aqil Cantonment today. He was briefed about the operational preparedness and the desert formation training in the area. It is also reported that he inspected a training formation at the Field Firing Range, Salehpat. He also watched the combat exercise as part of the desert defensive battle.

Meanwhile, there is a heavy movement of vehicles, tanks and other military equipment in the area. According to sources, Indian Intelligence is keeping a close watch on the movement of the Pakistan Army in the area. This exercise by the Pakistan Army comes in the wake of the recently concluded Indian Army exercise in Mahajan Field Firing Range in Bikaner on 21st September. During this exercise, T-90 Bhishma tanks, K9 Vajra self-propelled artillery guns, 130 MM field Artillery guns, MI-35 Attack gunship, and BMP-2 Infantry Combat vehicles were test-fired.

The Pakistan Army exercise on the International Border also assumes significance because of the ongoing internal security crisis within the country, following the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban. The Indian Intelligence community is keenly observing the exercise as it fears a surge in terrorism-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.
