Srinagar: Allegations of forced burial of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani were exposed after Kashmir Police on Monday released some videos of the funeral prayers and wrapping of the Shroud (Kafan) after abolution (Ghusul) of the late separatist leader. Allegations of forced burial of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani were exposed.

Also, police have refuted the claims made by the sons of Geelani that they were not allowed to perform the last rites of their departed father.

Police released a series of videos related to the last rites of the separatist leader where his body is being given to Gusul while performing the last rites.

Kashmir Police Zone on its Twitter handle issued series of tweets related to it and a number of videos were also released in this regard.

In its statement on Twitter handle police said that after the death of Geelani, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar along with SP and ASP met Geelani’s sons at their residence at 11 pm. They condoled the separatist leader’s death and requested for the burial in the night for the larger interest of the general public due to potential major law and order situations. Both the sons agreed and asked the officials to wait for two hours until the relatives reach.

IGP Kashmir personally spoke to a few relatives and ensured them of safe passage. However, three hours later, probably under the pressure from Pakistan and miscreants they behaved differently and started resorting to anti-national activities.

Geelani’s body was wrapped in a Pakistani flag and the attendees started sloganeering in favour of Pakistan and instigating neighbours to come out. After persuasion, the relatives brought the dead body to the graveyard and performed last rites with due respect in presence of members of the Intizamia Committee and the local Imam, the police said.

The refusal of both his sons to come to the graveyard indicated their loyalty to the Pakistani agenda rather than their love and respect for their departed father, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said.
