Haldwani (Uttarakhand): A strong explosion took place at the Hiranagar residence of BJP district president Pradeep Bisht in Nainital, at around 12.30am on Wednesday. The main gate, doors, and windows of the house were damaged in the impact of the blast.
Following the incident, a heightened tension prevailed in the area with the police and entire district administration arriving at the site of the explosion. Fortunately, none were hurt in the blast.
District Magistrate Dhiraj Singh Garbyal who visited the BJP leader's residence said that the cause of the blast would be known only after investigation and that forensic teams would be roped in to probe the incident.

Haldwani City SP Jagdish Chandra said that the blast has damaged the walls, doors, and windows of the district president's besides some household items. "The cause of the blast is being ascertained. Forensic investigation is also being conducted. The cause of the blast will be known only after the forensic investigation report comes," the SP added.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami having taken cognizance of the incident spoke with the district president and instructed the DIG to initiate a detailed probe. BJP state president Madan Kaushik also spoke with Bisht and enquired about the latter's wellbeing.
