Kolkata: A day after BJP Chief JP Nadda and Kailash Vijayvargiya's convoy were attacked while they were going to attend an organisational programme in West Bengal's Diamond Harbour, the saffron party has alleged that TMC is behind the attack. Vijayvargiya told ETV Bharat that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee planned the attack as JP Nadda was going to visit the fishermen community and inquire about the Amphan-relief fund allocated by the Centre.

Vijayvargiya alleged discrepancies in the Rs 2,200 cr fund provided by the Central government to help the Amphan victims.

He said, "The money has not reached to the victims...it is in the pockets of TMC workers. Even the High Court has sought a report on the proportion of funds distributed."

Vijayvargiya condemned the attack on BJP leaders and called it 'unfortunate'. He said that such violent political attacks should not happen in a democratic setup. What is even more appalling is that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC party leaders have supported the incident, calling it worrisome and disappointing.

Attacking CM Banerjee, the BJP leader said, "Entire Bengal is ashamed of how the TMC government and the state police are behaving. We strongly condemn this."

When asked about the law and order in the state, Vijayvargiya said, "There is no law and order in the state. Few criminals are dressed in civil dress while few can be seen in police costume. There is no difference."

"Everyone is watching that TMC workers take the party flags in their hands and indulge in hooliganism in the presence of the police. Chief Minister is patronising such activities. Mamata Banerjee has no rights to continue as Chief Minister. The people of Bengal will give her a befitting reply," he added.

He said that CM should focus on restoring the law and order situation in the state instead of commenting on the ongoing farmers' protest.

He went on to add, "TMC government needs to change its style of working. BJP is striving hard to preserve the cultural heritage of Bengal. And for that, we will do everything possible."
