"Nearly 1.40 crore students are likely to attend class 12th board examinations across the country.

It's a crucial point in each student's life as 12th board exams give a direction to them which decide their future and help them in enrolling in higher educational institutions for further studies," Sharma added.

Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas National Secretary Atul Kothari suggested that students who cannot appear for the examinations should be given a second chance.

In memorandum submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', the organisaion suggested that if the examinations are conducted through direct (offline) mode then certain factors including simplification of papers, exam time period, examination centres and paper supervisors must be considered.

OMR Sheet based objective test can be conducted while the provision of medical facilities at the examination centre, hand sanitiser, wearing of masks, face shields etc. should be ensured keeping in mind the Covid situation, the memorandum added.

The organisation also suggested that results of 10th and 11th examinations be factored in while declaring the 12th board examination results. It also recommended the government to consider the internal marks while calculating the final results of students.

Although, most of the states are in favour of conducting offline examinations, some believe that until the COVID19 vaccine is administrated to all citizens, it is not appropriate to conduct exams in offline mode.

After consulting with the states, the Centre may soon decide on the conduct of examinations by the CBSE.

The matter has, however, reached the Supreme Court and the next hearing has been fixed for June 3.
