Double engine of Uttarakhand trouble engine: Congress spokesperson

Saying that BJP only believes in dividing the society, Congress national spokesperson Pawan Khera claimed that the unemployment rate in Uttarakhand has gone up to 14.2 percent

Dehradun: Congress national spokesperson Pawan Khera Monday attacked the BJP government in Uttarakhand for changing chief ministers multiple times, rising inflation and unemployment.

Stating that the state government has been holding back unemployment figures, he also took a dig at the Centre.

He said that though he had the good fortune to to come to Devbhoomi on the last Monday of the Hindu holy month of Sravan, he said that it was also necessary to understand the suffering of the people of the state.

“In this state, BJP replaced three-three drivers with double engines,” Khera said and described the double engines as trouble engines. “Changing chief ministers is an acknowledgment of the BJP's failures and the party needs to answer this.”

Asking what happened to the promises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government to the people of the state, he also the state government over the unemployment rate.

Alleging that this government is also skimping in showing unemployment figures, he said that the unemployment rate in Uttarakhand has gone up to 14.2 percent.

“The government has proved unsuccessful in providing employment to the youth and is cheating them,” the Congress spokesperson said.

Targeting the BJP government on rising inflation, he said that despite despite international crude prices being low, petrol has crossed Rs 100 today.

“The general public is upset due to the increasing prices of food items,” Khera said. “The three chief ministers of BJP need to answer as to why the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas are so high.”

Charging the government with not doing anything in the field of tourism, he said: “The state government is talking about the economy being destroyed due to COVID-19, but even before COVID-19, the condition of the tourism sector remained the same. Instead of answering these questions, the BJP puts the matter on the Congress's door. Will Jawaharlal Nehru have answer why three chief ministers were changed in five years?”

He also said that the BJP only believes in the politics of dividing society.

“The BJP talks of a Congress-free India. But they should know that even if 10 generations of BJP come, India will never be Congress-free,” Khera asserted.

Giving the example of Goa, he said that the BJP forms governments in states by fraud.
