Dominica has agreed for Choksi's repatriation to India, Antigua won't accept him back: PM Gaston Browne

Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne has agreed to repatriate fugitive diamantaire, Mehul Choksi, to India and further went on to say that Antigua will not accept Choksi back, where he has his legal and constitutional protections as a citizen. Choksi went missing from Antigua and Barbuda on May 23 and was captured in Dominica on May 23.

New Delhi: Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne on May 26 said that fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi who has been found in Dominica will be repatriated to India.

He later added that Antigua will not accept him back where Choksi has legal and constitutional protections as a citizen.

"He (Mehul Choksi) was found in Dominica that he may have entered illegally, possibly by boat so Dominican Government is cooperating with Antiguan and Indian governments. Mr Choski will be deported from Dominica.

Requested PM Skerrit and law enforcement in Dominica to not return him (Mehul Choksi) to Antigua where he has legal and constitutional protections as a citizen.

We have requested that he be detained and to make arrangements with Dominican Government to have him return to India," said PM Browne.
