Surat (Gujarat): On September 17, World Bamboo Day, Kush Jariwala, a 17-yr old student from Surat made good use of the lockdown time and built a bamboo bicycle which is being acclaimed not only in Surat but also in the world. Currently, a European citizen has ordered this bamboo bicycle from Kush Jariwala.
The Surat student having seen a viral video of bicycles made from bamboo by a nature lover on social media was inspired and wanted to create something similar. After having read several books, doing some research on Google and watching YouTube videos, he finally made the bicycle from a special kind of bamboo (Dendrocalamus Stocksii Bamboo).

The waterproof bamboo bicycles made by the standard 12th standard student is completely eco-friendly and is in huge demand in European countries. A city-based Environmentalist Rishikumar has also lauded the student for making this bicycle.
"I got a call from Finland for the bicycle. I said will work after I finish my studies. I completed the work two days ago. This particular kind of strong bamboo comes from Maharashtra as they are not found in Gujarat. The bicycle can take a load of up to 150 kg," Kush Jariwala told ETV Bharat.
