Delhi Riots: Court asks DCP why two FIRs filed over one incident?

New Delhi: The Karkardooma Court has sought a response from the DCP as to why two FIRs were filed at two different police stations in connection with a crime related to the Delhi riots. The FIRs were filed in Khajuri Khas police station and Dayalpur police station. Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Yadav who was hearing the matter sought a report from the DCP in this regard.

Both the FIRs are related to the former AAP councillor, Tahir Hussain in connection with the rioting. During the hearing, advocate Rizwan, who was appearing for Hussain, questioned how FIRs were registered in two different police stations when the crime took place at one place. The hearing was pertaining to FIR number 91/2020 registered at Dayalpur police station.

Advocate Deepak Bhatia, representing the Delhi Police, refused to present arguments in the case registered against accused Tanveer Malik, Tahir Hussain and other accused. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police said that a supplementary charge sheet can be filed in this case.

To this, the court asked Bhatia to make arguments on the basis of the main charge sheet, but the latter insisted on deferring the hearing. However, Advocate Rizwan opposed the demand to postpone the hearing of the Delhi Police, saying that the accused have been in jail for the last one and a half years.
