New Delhi: Delhi's Patiala House Court has taken cognizance of the charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Raj Singh Gehlot, an accused in the Rs 800-crore bank loan fraud case and owner of Ambience Mall in Gurugram.
Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana is yet to issue summons to Gehlot. The court has sought clarification from the ED on some questions. The next hearing of the case has been fixed for October 5.
The court had rejected Gehlot's bail plea September 11. The court had said that the allegations were very serious and if the accused was released on bail, he could affect the investigation. Gehlot is accused of fraud in a Rs 800-crore bank loan. He is also accused of getting the mall constructed on a residential plot. The ED has raided Gehlot's hideouts earlier.
The CBI is also probing Gehlot's case. The Punjab and Haryana High Court had ordered an inquiry into the construction of the mall. Besides Gehlot, the CBI has registered a case against Ambience Limited, Ambience Developers and Infrastructure Private Limited and unidentified officials of Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and town and country planning department.
