Bengaluru: Only 40,000 vaccine doses are available in Bengaluru city and they will be used up by Wednesday, BBMP chief commissioner Gaurav Gupta has said. We will be able to inoculate people tomorrow if the state government supplies vaccines by then, Gupta added.
He said vaccine delivery programmes in apartments, associations, civic welfare associations and workplaces have been stopped as there is no supply.
Currently, people above 45 years of age are being administered the second dose on a priority basis. The first dose may be rendered ineffective if the person does not receive the second jab on time.

"People above 18 years will be vaccinated when we get an adequate supply," Gupta said.
As the supply is low, he advised citizens to arrive at the vaccination centre only after they register themselves in advance and obtain an appointment.
"The state is in need of three crore units of vaccines. We are also facing a shortage of testing kits and labs in the city," he said.
Speaking about the ambulance service in Bengaluru, Gupta said of the 600 ambulances available in the city, 441 are equipped with Advanced Life Support system.
The BBMP chief also said breakfast, lunch and dinner packets will be distributed to the poor and migrant labourers at Indira Canteens free of cost. "We aim to provide meals for three lakh people every day," he added.
