More recoveries, less corona cases in T'gana as test numbers drop
The weekly drop-in COVID-19 tests in Telangana saw the daily count of new positive cases plummeting to 857 on Monday, taking the state's total tally to 2,51,188, even as more recoveries than new infections were recorded.
Authorities conducted 23,806 tests over the weekend compared with 40,000-45,000 on weekdays.
In the last 24 hours ending 8 pm on Sunday, 1,504 more patients recovered, taking the cumulative recoveries to 2,30,568.
The recovery rate now stands at 91.79 per cent, which is lower than the national average of 92.5 per cent.
Four more people succumbed to the virus during the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 1,381. The state's fatality rate came down to 0.45 per cent as against the national average of 1.5 per cent.
According to the Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, 44.96 per cent deaths in Telangana were due to COVID-19 and 55.04 per cent due to comorbidities.

6 new cases push Mizoram's tally to 3,096
Mizoram's COVID-19 tally rose to 3,096 on Monday as six more people, including two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, tested positive for the infection, a health official said.
Three new cases were reported in Aizawl district, two in Kolasib and one in Mamit, he said.
All the fresh infections were detected during rapid antigen tests, the official said.
Three new patients have travel history, while the remaining three infections were detected during contact tracing, he said.
Mizoram now has 476 active coronavirus cases, while 2,618 people have recovered from the disease and two patients have succumbed to the infection so far, the official said.
The state has so far tested 1.23 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 170 on Sunday, he added.

Jharkhand reports 203 new cases, state's tally over 1.04 lakh
The Covid-19 tally of Jharkhand surged to 1,04,442 with 203 new positive infections, the state health department said on Sunday.
The death toll stands at 897.
Ranchi district registered the maximum number of new positive cases at 60, followed by Hazaribagh at 24.
The total active coronavirus in the state was recorded at 4471, while 99,074 people have recovered and or discharged from hospital so far.

Indore reported 108 new cases of novel coronavirus on Sunday, taking the district's tally to 34,725, according to the Chief Medical and Health Officer Praveen Jadia.

New Delhi: With 45,903 new coronavirus infections and 490 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours, India's overall Covid-19 caseload and death toll stood at 85,53,657 and 1,26,611, respectively, on Monday, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Currently there 5,09,673 active cases, while 79,17,373 people have been discharged so far.
While the recovery rate stands at 92.56 per cent, the fatality rate is 1.48 per cent, the Ministry revealed.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) conducted 8,35,401 sample tests on Sunday, taking the total number of samples tested so far to 11,85,72,192.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state with a total of 1,719,858 cases and 45,240 deaths.
It is followed by Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
On Sunday, the national capital reported 7,745 cases, shattering records for a single-day spike in the number of infections.
The city also registered an all time high positivity rate of 15.26 per cent, while it also reported 77 new deaths in a 24 hour period.
It was the highest ever single-day tally since the onset of the pandemic in New Delhi.
With this, the overall case tally has reached 4,38,529, while the cumulative causality stood at 6,989.
In a grim milestone, the overall number of global coronavirus cases has surpassed the 50 million mark, while the deaths have surged to 1,255,250, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
As of Monday morning, the total caseload and death toll stood at 50,316,476 and 1,255,250, respectively, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.
The US is the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 9,961,324 and 237,566, respectively, according to the CSSE.
