New Delhi: Congress party, on Wednesday, announced it's the tie-up with the Left parties for the upcoming Assembly polls in West Bengal.

While addressing media, Congress MP and West Bengal Congress Chief, Adhir Ranjan Choudhary said, "In 2016, Congress fought elections in alliance with left parties, led by CPI(M), against Mamta Banerjee's TMC. This time as well, when West Bengal Assembly Elections are knocking the door, Congress party has once again decided to fight against TMC regime in alliance with left parties."

He also said that no decision has been taken yet about the seat-sharing and Chief Ministerial face for West Bengal Assembly Elections.

In October, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) had decided to have an electoral understanding with all the secular parties, including Congress, in the upcoming Assembly Elections.

When asked about the battle between BJP and TMC in the Assembly Elections, and the scope of Congress-Left alliance in the state, Adhir Ranjan said, "This is just their imagination. Certainly in the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP had increased its tally but it doesn't mean that the same situation will be repeated in the Assembly Elections. On the national issue, they had got a little advantage. But this time, BJP's claim that they'll get more than 200 seats is a sheer exaggeration."

Taking a dig at BJP's high command for addressing rallies in West Bengal, the Congress leader said, "The queue of BJP's senior leaders is getting longer in West Bengal. It is because they lack local leadership in the state. They supply leaders from Delhi. That is not our situation. We have faith in our local leaders and party members."

West Bengal, along with Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and Puducherry will go under polls in March-April next year.
