Raipur: Congress seems to have learnt a lesson from the BJP - politics in the name of Ram and cow. The saffron party practices it throughout the country but the grand old party, which rules Chhattishgarh with 70 MLAs, has adopted 'Chhattishgarhria' styles of functioning and also indulges in the new form of politics, which does not go well with its name in the rest of the country.
It has been working on the path of 'Ram Van Gaman’, the route widely believed by Hindus taken by Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman during their 14-year exile from Ayodhya.
A team of researchers, working under the leadership of Doctor Hemu Yedu, has already visited various 'ashrams', 'sangam' points and 124 other places in connection with the project.
The 2260-km long route would have places where Lord Ram believed to have stayed during his 14-year long 'vanvas' (exile).
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has also snatched away the issue of cow protection from the BJP by announcing the 'Godhan Nyay' scheme, which entails the state government purchasing dung at Rs 2 per kg from cow owners. The Congress government is also making arrangements to buy and sell other cow products.
It has also come up with a plan to 'Gau mukti-dham' (cow abode of salvation) in all the villages of the state. The land plots have been identified to build the proposed cow projects.

Meanwhile, the BJP has attacked the Congress for indulging in "politics of appeasement".
"Congress stands exposed. It is indulging in politics of appeasement," said BJP spokesperson Sanjay Srivastav. Congress has also hit back, saying Ram belongs to the whole nation but the BJP wants his name to be limited to the party only.
Experts believe that Congress has realised the "game" of the BJP and doing exactly the same to defeat the saffron party in its own game.
