Damoh: Madhya Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Rambai Singh's husband Govind Singh after he surrendered in Bhind district on Sunday morning. Singh is accused of the murder of Congress leader Devendra Chaurasia in 2019.

The police had announced a reward of Rs 30,000 for the arrest of Singh who represents Patharia in the state's Damoh district. Singh had released a 3-minute video on Saturday night saying that he would surrender to Bhind police near the bus stand today.

In the video, Singh said that he was unaware of him being declared as an accused in Devendra Chaurasia murder case and sought a high-level court-monitored probe into the matter.

"If I am found guilty in the case, I must be hanged to death," he said in the video. Rambai had appealed to Singh to surrender in front of the police.

The Supreme Court last week took serious note of the state police's failure to arrest the MLA's husband and directed the DGP to arrest him immediately. The court had warned the police to comply with the rules and regulations of the court in his arrest or face action. Bhind police superintendent rubbished the reports of the surrender of Govind Singh and said that he has not received any information till now.
