Cloud burst in HP district damages crops; landslides likely

Sirmaur (Himachal): A cloudburst in Chamyar Korad village of Nahan Tehsil in Himachal's Sirmaur district late on Monday evening led to several crops being damaged. However, no loss of lives has been reported. Meanwhile, an assessment of the loss is being carried out by the Revenue Department.

Heavy rains have been pounding the district, bringing life to a standstill. Also, farmers and gardeners are facing huge losses due to the incessant rains.

The Indian Meteorological Department had issued an alert regarding heavy rains in 10 districts of Himachal Pradesh. A yellow alert has been issued for many parts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur.

The rains are likely to continue in the state till September 24. People have also been instructed to stay indoors as the heavy rains could also trigger landslides in the region.
