New Delhi: Speculation is rife about Chirag Paswan's intention to name the residence of his late father and former union minister Ram Vilas Paswan at 12 Janpath as Ram Vilas Paswan Memorial. He might ask the government to convert it into a memorial as the Paswan family has been living in the bungalow for almost 30 years. Besides, Chirag had also installed the bust of his father at the bungalow recently, with a clear intention of continuing in the bungalow.

Earlier, the Directorate of Estates at the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing had issued notice to the family to vacate the bungalow rejecting Chirag's demand to stay back till the first death anniversary of his father. Ram Vilas Paswan, leader of Lok Shakthi Party, died of prolonged illness on October 8 last year.

The ministry is planning to allot the bungalow to the new Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.

The 12 Janpath bungalow was allotted to the Lok Shakti Party leader Ram Vilas Paswan when he became the Union Minister in 1990. In 2009, the Lokshakti Party leader was asked to vacate the bungalow when he lost from Hajipur in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. However, RJD supremo, Lalu Prasad Yadav nominated him to the Rajya Sabha, enabling the family to continue living in the bungalow.

On the other hand, LJP is facing an internal political crisis as five of the MPs have rebelled against the party, including Chirag's uncle Pashupati Paras. The MPs had declared Pashupati a party leader in the Parliament.
