New Delhi: Former Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Congress Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar, Akhilesh Singh on Monday said that no one was satisfied with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the Rajya Sabha.
Calling the three contentious agriculture laws a direct attack on farming, Singh said the Centre should stop attacking farmers. Once the farmer stands up, it will be difficult for them to even run the government, he said.
"PM Modi is saying that MSP was always there and will remain. But when there is no mandi, then how will there be MSP be?" Singh questioned, as he asked the Centre to stop "tricking" the farmers.
The central government wants the poor farmers to be eradicated and for only a handful of people to benefit, Singh said, adding that the control of the market will go into the hands of a select few due to the new laws.

"The existing agricultural laws will not benefit the farmers. They will only suffer losses. The central government should repeal them," he said.
The Congress leader further accused the Prime Minister of speaking without facts during his speech.
Earlier in the day, Modi made a fervent appeal to the protesting farmers to end their agitation against the new farm laws even as he questioned opposition parties for their sudden "U-turn" on the agriculture reforms.
