New Delhi: Congress party, on Thursday, took a jibe at Central Government saying that it should celebrate the festival of Navratri by reducing the prices of LPG cylinders for nine consecutive days. Addressing a press conference, Congress spokesperson Alka Lamba said, "Center has increased the prices of LPG cylinders on the very first day of Navratri. Economic slowdown, unemployment and inflation are the issues by which the common man has been most affected. But even during these nine days of worship, this government is not feeling the pain of people."

This comes a day after LPG prices were hiked by Rs 15, in line with the surge in the international fuel prices. Now a non-subsidised 14.2 kg cylinder will cost Rs 899.50 in Delhi.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress leader said, "In his visit to Lucknow, Prime Minister has given homework to burn 19 lakh diyas. These lamps will burn with oil or water? The oil price has crossed Rs 200 per litre."

She also slammed BJP for removing the name of Varun Gandhi from the list of its National Executives. "I think if there is any self-respect left within him, then Mr Gandhi should leave BJP and fight for the rights of farmers," she said.
