With Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab scheduled for early next year, the government and ruling BJP have turned to election mode, deploying 13 Union ministers, including seven Cabinet ministers, to the states for poll-related responsibilities. Minister of tate for Education and BJP MP from Jharkhand Annapurna Devi extended her gratitude towards PM Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda for this opportunity.

New Delhi: Minister of State for Education and BJP MP from Jharkhand Annapurna Devi extended her gratitude towards PM Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda for this opportunity. "I thank PM Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda, that I have been given the responsibility of election co-in-charge of BJP in Uttar Pradesh. This time the party will fight for the issues like good governance and development. BJP will again form the government in UP with a thumping majority," she said.

"I will work under the guidance of Dharmendra Pradhan in UP. I will try my best to live up to whatever expectations are from me. I will work hard for the party. The BJP government in the state is doing well on every front.," she added.

On being asked about the demonstration of BJP leaders in Jharkhand, who were injured during the lathicharge by police she said, "In a democracy, everyone has the right to express their views. The lathicharge on BJP leaders by the police is very unfortunate and we strongly condemn it. We also condemn the allotment of the Namaz room in the Jharkhand assembly. This should not happen in the temple of democracy."

Earlier on Wednesday, a group of BJP workers were lathicharged in Ranchi when they were trying to reach Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha as part of the protest against a state government order allotting a room in the Assembly building for Namaz.

Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan — a veteran in many political battles has been handed over the responsibility of party in-charge of the election in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Apart from that Union ministers including Anurag Thakur, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Shobha Karandlaje, Annapurna Devi, former Haryana minister Captain Abhimanyu, Rajya Sabha MPs Saroj Pandey and Vivek Thakur were given the responsibility of BJP's co-in charge of election in the state.
