Gujarat BJP to not give tickets to sexagenarians, relatives, 3 terms party workers

Gandhinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to not give tickets to the party workers above 60 years of age, those who have completed three terms and are relatives of leaders for the local body elections including six Municipal Corporations to be held on February 21.

The three important decisions were taken at a meeting of the parliamentary board chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and attended by state president C.R.Patil. The Gujarat BJP Parliamentary Board meeting will go on for three days starting Monday.

List of 16 names per ward sent

Under the initiative of the state BJP, a team of three observers were sent to 6 municipal areas as well as panchayats across the state. Observers have compiled a list of 16 names per ward after making sense from the party workers.

A panel has been formed for each ward, a list of which has been submitted. The High Command has sent a delegation to the city, panchayat, municipal area MP, MLA, President and General Secretary to discuss the list. At the end of the discussions, a list of 16 names has been prepared and sent, which will be announced at the meeting of the Region Parliamentary Board and the final list of candidates will be announced on February 4.

The board will hear two municipal corporations every day and the list of BJP municipal corporation candidates will be announced on February 4.

Only final list to be sent to Delhi

BJP is likely to give preference to a number of young candidates this time the final list of which will be sent to Delhi. The first list of BJP candidates will be released on February 4.

While the ward in which the question will be complicated has adopted a strategy of announcing names at the last minute.
