BJP poised to shift paradigms in Bengal after J-K poll feat

After BJP has won 75 seats in DDC polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the party is planning its next move in the state. The saffron party has instructed its leaders to interact with the locals and make them aware of various central government schemes.

New Delhi: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is elated after the party has managed to make inroads in the District Development Council elections in Jammu and Kashmir. BJP has emerged as the single-largest party with 75 seats while the Gupkar alliance swept majority by winning 112 seats.

BJP is now preparing their electoral strategy to put up a spectacular show in Bengal and Assam elections. The opposition parties are also gearing up to blame BJP on grounds of political vendetta after its impressive performance.

However, the saffron party could manage to win only three seats in Kashmir.

DDC polls were the first democratic exercise after the Central government scrapped article 370 and the bifurcation of the erstwhile state into two union territories last year.

BJP is now planning to appoint strategists for various in the Jammu and Kashmir with its main focus in the valley region. The party is preparing new development schemes under which employees would be given to youth.

BJP will actually mount pressure the present state government for providing employment to youth.

The party will instruct the election campaigners to be vigilant in the state, interact with the voters and to make sure that the common people continue to gets the benefits from Central government schemes.

The top leaders of the party also happy with its performance and reiterated the fact that with lotus blooming in the state, people have once again reposed their faith in the democracy. In Kulgam and Sophian districts, voter turnout was more than 70 per cent and even in Pulama district, the outcome was 7.4 per cent.

Law Minister and senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad rejected the contention that the District Development Council poll results are a win for People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), noting that the BJP has emerged as the single largest party and that it has got more votes than the total votes of the National Conference, the PDP and the Congress put together.

He said, "People of Jammu and Kashmir have identified the difference between 'people who rule' and 'people who work'. The people of the state now believe in development and this is a big victory for the party. This is a victory of development and democracy and verdict is a "resounding slap" by people on the face of extremists, separatists, terrorists and their patrons.

At present, the saffron party is gearing up for Bengal assembly elections and the party will also use posters and banners as a part of its election campaign.
