New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced mega infrastructure projects for four poll-bound states while presenting the Union Budget on Monday.
The Finance Minister's announcements are seen as a push to the BJP's confidence in Assam and West Bengal and rekindling the party's hopes in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Speaking to ETV Bharat on this, BJP National Spokesperson Sudesh Verma hailed the budget and asserted that this year's budget is for the 'inclusive development & welfare' of every section of society and a budget for a 'self-reliant India.'
"Development is a continuous process. It has nothing to do with elections. Whether a state is poll-bound or not, the party is committed to development across the country and this budget focuses on that," he said.
He further said Mamata Banerjee did not implement the Kisan Nidhi scheme and Ayushman Bharat scheme in Bengal but the party would expect that whosoever comes in power in the state, should implement these schemes for the welfare of people.
It is worth mentioning over that a political row has kicked in over infra boost for poll-bound states as several political parties, including the Congress, hit out at Sitharaman for announcing road infrastructure projects only in for states going to elections and asked if the budget is "economy revival document or voter wooing ticket"
