New Delhi: As Delhi went into a six-day lockdown amid the deteriorating COVID-19 situation, an exodus of migrant labourers was yet again seen at the Anand Vihar Bus Terminal. Similar scenes were witnessed in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Gujarat with lakhs of workers returning home.
However, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the migrants to stay here in the national capital and also assured them basic facilities such as food and lodging.
Hitting out at Arvind Kejriwal, BJP spokesperson Gopal Krishna Agarwal said that the government should have anticipated the movement of migrant labourers as it had once happened in 2020.

"Chief Ministers of Delhi and Maharashtra have announced lockdown. They should have considered the circumstances twice before taking such steps," said the BJP spokesperson.
Further, he said that the 'drastic step' which was taken by both Delhi and Maharashtra governments were forcing the Uttar Pradesh government to help the workers reach back their respective hometowns.
Meanwhile, the deadly virus has infected 2,95,041 people in India and left 2,023 dead in the last 24 hours. Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday appealed to the citizens for self-disciplined and advised states to consider lockdowns only as the last resort.
