Agartala: All India Trinamool Congress leader Sushmita Dev, who is on a 15-day tour to Tripura, on Friday launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP and claimed that the ruling party has been betraying the people of Tripura for the last three and half years, ever since the BJP-IPFT government came to power in 2018.
Dev targeted her former party colleague and incumbent Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma for cheating people with fake promises. “People of Tripura have not forgotten as to how Dr Sarma lured youth promising jobs. They (BJP) promised 24-hour electricity, road connectivity, better amenities for the masses but what have they given. They have done nothing but only making empty promises. They promised to give the benefit of the seventh central pay commission, the government employees know better what they got”, said Dev.

Dev reminded her father’s role in establishing a Congress government in Tripura and said that in the 2023 elections Mamata Banerjee would play the same role to free people from the clutches of this “misrule”. Dev was addressing her first workers' meeting at Dashrath Deb Bhawan Suparibagan, Agartala.
“I am well aware of the political culture of Tripura. Once upon a time, bombs were burst during election times. During that period, my father succeeded in establishing a Congress government in Tripura. People of Tripura have the courage to fight for their fate”, she added.
West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu said that the TMC would give an inclusive government in Tripura. “People of Tripura will give their mandate in favour of us. Sushmita Dev is here to shape the party’s foundation in the state. In each district, each block from Dharmanagar to Khowai, we shall work for the state," Basu said.
