Riding high on the Bihar Assembly elections result, the BJP is strengthening its roots in southern states as well. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity in the politics of South India has increased, which used to be usually a barren land for the saffron outfit.

Patna: After the results of Bihar assembly elections, the calculations for 2024 Lok Sabha polls have begun.

In fact, saffron party is trying to make strong interventions in the politics of South India, which used to be a barren land for the saffron outfit.

The BJP is strengthening its roots in southern states as well. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity in the politics of South India has increased, which means that both Jagan Mohan Reddy and N Chandrababu Naidu are comfortable in their statements on Prime Minister Modi.

They are competing with each other in praising Prime Minister Modi. The simple feeling of strong leadership in the country is becoming an example for other states.

After the NDA victory in Bihar, though with a wafer-thin majority, Nitish Kumar’s becoming the state Chief Minister for one more term is being seen as a landmark for other states as well.

The party is looking to strengthen its preparations to capture the eastern States through north India.

At the same time, despite the strengthening of BJP in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been able to retain the chair of the chief ministership.

It is only after the Bihar election, the NDA in Tamil Nadu has chosen Palaniswami of the AIADMK as its face for the upcoming assembly elections.

Despite serious differences between Palaniswami and Panneerselvam, the AIADMK democratically elected Palaniswami as its chief minister.

The assembly elections are due in April 2021 in three states of South India -- Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry.

There is a different party government in all three places. The development has become the agenda of the country.

In such a situation, every State wants to talk about development with the government of two engines.

Impact of North Politics Over South

There is also a vote bank in the three states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry which is strongly associated with Prime Minister Modi.

In fact, the DMK is agitating on the issue of imposing Hindi in Tamil Nadu. Now the trouble of these parties is the migrant people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, who are strongly aligned with the BJP.

If we talk about YS Jagan Reddy, he is also keen to join the NDA. Recently, there have been two rounds of talks between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress President Jagan Mohan Reddy and Prime Minister to join the NDA.

Insiders have confirmed that the YSR Congress wants two berths in the Modi Cabinet.

The YSR Congress was offered to join the NDA after N Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP withdrew from the Modi government in 2018, but Jagan did not show much interest.

The YSR Congress chief fears that Muslim and Christian voters of the state may turn against him if he joins the NDA.

Jagan Mohan Reddy is a staunch supporter of Reddy, who has a ten per cent share in the State’s total population.

At the same time, BJP-Modi-Amit Shah-Nadda combination is preparing a strategy to get at least 40 seats for the BJP in six states of the south.

The regional parties of the southern states are happy that if the Lok Sabha seats are given to the BJP, then the saffron party will not ask for more seats in these States but will help in forming a government with their strong participation.

Victory For Left Parties In Bihar- Worry For Mamata

In Bihar, the RJD, the Congress and the Left fought the elections together.

The way the Left parties have made a comeback in Bihar politics has added to Mamata Banerjee’s restlessness.

BJP seems to get some political opportunities in West Bengal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in a separate political battle over West Bengal. For 35 years, the Left parties, which had been in power in West Bengal, had become irrelevant in the state and national politics and led to the arrival of feisty Mamata Banerjee.

In West Bengal, the Left has been reduced to just 6 per cent of the vote share.

The Left party’s interference in Bihar politics has become an area of concern for Mamata Banerjee, but what gives a sense of satisfaction to her is the fact that CPI and CPI-M are still not a force to reckon with, but it is the CPI (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation which has returned to reckoning in the State.

After the Bihar election results, on November 13, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that more than 2 lakh jobs but that too is coming at a time when the tenure of her government is being looked at from another perspective.

The issue of employment is over in Bihar elections. The BJP has already started cashing in on the employment issue in West Bengal.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is under attack from different political quarters.

The issue of closed companies continues to haunt her.

In such a situation, a strong political ground for the Left parties is a cause of trouble for Mamata Banerjee.

The occasion is also for the BJP that if the Left party fights strongly against Mamata, then the BJP, which has made its presence felt remarkably during the Lok Sabha polls, will also add a saffron colour to the polity of West Bengal.

The panchayat elections are going to be held in Uttar Pradesh in 2021. It is believed that this will be the semi-final of the assembly elections.

Even though the parties do not have direct intervention in the panchayat elections in UP, but who is strong in the village head and caste politics gives a lot of direction to the politics of the state.

Akhilesh Yadav led government was completely shaken by the result of village head elections of 2015 and he lost power in the subsequent polls.

In fact, the political stream of Modi, emanating from the Ganga in Varanasi, is spreading far and wide now. The politics of Ganga Jamuni etiquette has separated the temple politics from Uttar Pradesh to other issues.

For eastern India, the water which Modi has lifted from the Ganga in Varanasi has given a new political stream to Gangasagar in Hooghly, West Bengal.

The Purvanchal remains a stronghold in Uttar Pradesh politics. Prime Minister Modi is an MP from Varanasi. Gorakhpur is called the city of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Akhilesh Yadav is an MP from Azamgarh. Amethi is now occupied by the BJP but Amethi and Rae Bareli have been the political turf of the occupants of 10, Janpath.

Sultanpur was earlier with Varun Gandhi and now Maneka Gandhi. In order to keep the politics of UP in mind, Modi’s politics is filling up on this Eastern expressway.

Now the colour of development politics which Modi has filled in politics is becoming a canker of issues for other political parties of the country who were earlier not going beyond caste.

The way Modi’s politics has caught up the speed, the effect of the Modi wave is working more than that of the BJP.

However, by combining the politics of Bihar and the country’s economic structure, those who see Modi’s stature can sell his dream politically at a faster pace.

Principal economist Naval Kishore Chaudhary had said that increasing the growth rate is not as much of a challenge as keeping it stable.

Education and employment opportunities are strong in the politics of the south, but an alternative will have to be prepared for north India.

Mere words will not serve any purpose, however, many political critics agree that it is also necessary to encourage others to think of giving an alternative.

Prime Minister Modi’s decision from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, the social structure of which Ganga Jamuni etiquette is connected to India, has made it the reason why Prime Minister Modi’s politics is becoming the new political pole from the south to the north.
