Patna: BJP chief Amit Shah today took out a roadshow in Bihar's Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency to support Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in a high-profile contest against actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Sinha had quit the BJP for the Congress earlier this year after not being granted a ticket from the constituency. Shah was accompanied by Mr Prasad and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi during the event, among others. Although the roadshow covered a distance of just over a kilometre, it passed through all the areas that Sinha has been associated with since childhood.
Talking to ETV Bharat, Shah expressed confidence that BJP would win more seats than last Lok Sabha polls and form government. He also said that he is very much satisfied with the enthusiasm of party workers in Patna.
Slogans like 'har har Modi ghar ghar Modi' and 'Jai shri Ram' were raised by the supporters in the roadshow.
Opposition reacted to the roadshow:
- If Shah is coming to Patna then he should answer questions of the appointed teachers: Rabri Devi
- The message that Amit Shah wants to give has already reached the people through grand alliance. Roadshow will not make any difference: Abdul Bari Siddiqui
- Shatrughan Sinha said that if he is coming with the right mind, respectfully, not to show aukaat (worth), then he is welcome. I will also offer him tea and pakoda.
