New Delhi: A brain-dead woman from Ghaziabad gifted new life to a 56-year-old man hailing from Uttarakhand by donating her the most precious part of any human being, i.e heart.
According to the reports, a quinquagenarian man who has been suffering from a heart-related ailment for the last 2 years had lost every hope to breathe for the next 2-4 months. On the other hand, a 41-year-old woman lost her life after battling for four days in the brain-dead condition at a private hospital in Ghaziabad.
Taking a courageous step, the family members of the woman decided to donate her heart to the needful person.
This brought a ray of hope to the man suffering from the last stage of heart disease.
"We received information from National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation about the availability of a donor's heart from Ghaziabad," said a doctor of MAX hospital.
A team went to Ghaziabad, retrieved the heart. It was then transplanted in the man following a nearly 4-hour-long surgery.
According to the doctor, the newly inducted organ would last for nearly 15-20 years, if all conditions remain favourable.
