Shimla(Himachal Pradesh): Popularly known as ‘Bobby Ji’, Sarbjeet Singh, a businessman by profession, has been working to uplift and serve the underprivileged people of Himachal Pradesh for years. For over 10 years, he has been organising blood donation camps for hospitals, and a couple of years ago, he has started a free canteen for cancer patients and their attendants at Shimla’s only cancer hospital.
FREE FUNERAL SERVICE:
Sarabjeet Singh started his free funeral service van 10 years back. He was able to collect Rs 3 lakh from various people and bought a van which offers free funeral service. He has ferried 10,000 dead bodies to date. He drives the van himself and attends every single call even at odd hours.
BLOOD DONATION CAMPS:
He has been organising blood donation camps for over 14 years and has collected 40,000 units of blood, which is 60% of the total blood collection of Himachal Pradesh. He says that all the blood banks in the state have his contact number and he is available at any time.
'ALMIGHTY BLESSINGS'- Free food to cancer patients and attendants
Bobby has started 'Almighty Blessings'- established free canteens for patients and their attendants under its banner. He runs two free canteens adjacent to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) and Kamala Nehru hospital. These canteens serve tea, biscuits, soups, porridge, and Dal-Chawal to patients free of cost.
At the age of 45, when most people his age are busy eking out a living for themselves and their families, Singh is working tirelessly to provide solace to both, the living and the dead.
