Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh): With the country facing a lockdown and hospitals crumbling under pressure in the wake of an increasing number of coronavirus positive cases, a middle-aged tuberculosis patient from Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh died after not having received the required treatment for the disease.
The deceased, Sanjay, is survived by his five daughters, who ended up performing the last rites of their father, which is normally performed by a son.
“Sanjay was diagnosed with TB about six months ago and was undergoing treatment at a district hospital. But ever since the lockdown was imposed, he wasn’t able to receive treatment for the disease,” said Narendra, a relative of Sanjay.
