Kalpetta (Kerala): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government while addressing the media in district headquarters Kalpetta in Wayanad on Tuesday.
Referring to the announcement that the Prime Minister would address the nation on Tuesday evening, Rahul Gandhi urged prime minister Modi to tell when the Chinese troops will retreat from the Indian side.
"Modi should speak on when India would get back the 1200 square kilometres encroached by China, while he addresses the nation," he said.
“I would like PM Modi to speak on this, but I guarantee you, he will not use the word China.”
He said that a sense of divide is being inculcated to make the country weak. The probe against Farooq Abdullah is also politically driven, Rahul Gandhi added.
Rahul Gandhi also expressed his dissent over fellow Congress Leader’s ‘item’ remark on a woman BJP leader and termed it ‘unfortunate’. Rahul said, “Kamal Nath - ji is from my party. But I do not personally like the type of language that he used. I do not appreciate it regardless of who he is and I think it is unfortunate.”
Treatment of women in this country has to be improved a lot, in all aspects. Whether it is in law and order, giving basic respect to women, or their representation in businesses or government sector, a lot of improvement is required," Rahul said.

Speaking to the media at his home constituency he said the central government is using central agencies as tools for political vengeance by the Central Government. Answering a media question on the gold smuggling case, Rahul said, let the investigation be carried out in a just manner and the truth be found out.
The Central government's new agricultural policies are harsh on the farmers and will harm the food security of India. It would only be beneficial for two or three persons. The nationwide lockdown which was announced without any warning worsened the crisis.
Talking about the Central Health Minister Harsh Vardhan’s remark against Kerala, he said: "The whole nation has to fight the disease together. I do not think it is not appropriate to blame someone or the other. It is a huge challenge. Earlier, when that was pointed out, the Centre had not taken it seriously. Now it is not the time for pointing fingers. Let us fight it together," he added.
He said he does not have a problem in being left out from the inauguration of a school building in Wayanad. However, the people’s voices or their representatives’ must not be curtailed despite being from another party.
"It was unfortunate that the District Panchayath president was nevertheless left out from the District COVID review meeting. More people’s representatives must be there to discuss such problems," he opined.
