Hyderabad(Telangana): Atleast twelve post-graduate(PG) medicos of Osmania Medical College(OMC) have tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday. Sources said that a total of 58 students tested negative.
Earlier, three medicos had tested Covid-19 positive after which authorities conducted coronavirus test on all 280 PG medicos. As per the information, results of the test reports of 116 medicos will arrive today while remaining 120 reports will come by tomorrow.
OMC principal, Dr Shashikala Reddy said,“All our PG medicos are frontline workers and are working at various government hospitals in Hyderabad. Since Gandhi Hospital is a designated Covid-19 hospital, load of patients have increased in Osmania and hospitals affiliated to OMC. Our medicos have access to N-95 masks and PPE kits but it is not possible to wear them all the time. Our team is in touch with Director of Medical Education and the Health Minister. We hope that we will solve this issue soon."
According to Health Ministry, total number of active Covid-19 cases in Telangana stands at 1213 with 88 deaths. A total of 1,491 patients have been cured and discharged.
