New Delhi: The political and strategic affairs expert Desh Ratan Nigam said that Monday's meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump has become the foundation for the future relationship between the two countries.
Nigam, however, justified Trump's statement that US has good relationship with Pakistan too.
Speaking to ETV Bharat Nigam said, "There is going to be a Afghanistan-Taliban deal after Trump's visit and as India is not in the picture there, so it was necessary on the part of Donald Trump to humour Pakistan as Pakistan has some hold over Taliban."
Terming Trump's visit to India as historic, Nigam said that the visit defies the close relation the two leaders (Modi and Trump) share both "personally as well as officially."
"The scale of function that was held at Motera stadium, the world's largest cricket stadium, sends a message to the entire world and this has become the foundation for the future relationship between India and US," said Nigam.
Referring to Trump's talk over terrorism and Pakistan, Nigam said that the statement made by Trump gives a clear message that neither the USA nor India will accept terrorism.
"Falling under pressure from the US, Pakistan has started taking actions against terrorism. We all know that Pakistan suddenly made a statement that Masood Azhar is missing in Pakistan. In addition, Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has also kept Pakistan in grey list which reminds that a sword is always there on Pakistan's head," said Nigam.
Nigam also hailed US for its stand on supporting India at all International forums.
