1. COVID-19: India conducts over one million tests in two days
The health ministry on Tuesday said that over 10 lakh COVID-19 tests have been conducted over the past two days in India. Over five lakh tests were conducted on each of the past two days, the ministry said.

A lawyer has filed a petition in the Rajasthan High Court seeking directions for the removal of Governor Kalraj Mishra. The petitioner claimed that the governor failed to fulfil constitutional obligations by not calling an Assembly session.
3. Floods ravage Bihar: Nearly 24.5 lakh affected in 11 flood-hit districts
Floodwaters spread to new areas in the 11 affected districts of Bihar, hitting one million more population, even though no fresh death was reported and the toll remained at 10, the Disaster Management Department said on Monday.
4. Assam floods: Death toll rises to 129 as one more die
Assam deluge has affected more than 33 districts, however, the situation is gradually improving. On Monday, one more person reportedly died and the toll in this year's flood and landslides has risen to 129.
5. 14-yr-old killed within hours of being kidnapped in Gorakhpur
In a gruesome act, a class six student was kidnapped and killed within hours of his abduction from Gorakhpur's Pipraich area on Sunday. The kidnappers proceeded to demand a ransom of Rs 1 crore from his father. The body of the 14-year-old boy was recovered from a jungle area near a canal here on Monday evening, said police.
6. Half-burnt body of woman found near highway in Telangana
Telangana Police on Monday informed that a half-burnt body of a middle-aged woman was found near National Highway 163 in Vikarabad district of Telangana. A case under Section 302 IPC (punishment for murder) has been registered and the probe is underway.
7. Naxals put up banners in Chhattisgarh announcing 'Martyrs' Week'
A large number of pamphlets, and even a few banners were found in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district, announcing that July 29 to August 3 would be observed as 'Martys' Week' in remembrance of the four killed Naxals in an encounter earlier in May this year. Following the development, police and security forces are on alert.
8. Oldest living IAF fighter pilot turns 100, Air chief extends greetings
Retired Squadron Leader Dalip Singh Majithia, who holds the distinction of being the oldest living IAF fighter pilot, turned 100 on Monday. Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria extended his greetings to the centenarian who had retired in August 1947 when India achieved Independence.
9. Pak resorts to ceasefire violation in Mendhar sector
Pakistani Army on Monday resorted to unprovoked firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Mendhar sector in Poonch using small arms and mortars. So far, in 2020, more than 2,700 ceasefire violations have been reported, in which 21 civilians have been killed and 94 injured.
10. China holds first FMs meeting with Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan on COVID-19, BRI
Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi on Monday held the first joint virtual conference with his counterparts from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nepal during which he mooted a four-point plan to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, boost economic recovery and resumption of the BRI infrastructure projects.
