The monsoon session of the Parliament which is likely to begin from the second week of September will have an alternate day basis sittings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

2. SSR death case: Unidentified person being questioned by CBI in Mumbai

As per the latest update, three dead bodies have been recovered while six others are still feared trapped in the fire that broke out in Srisailam hydroelectric station on Thursday late night.

Yakub Patalia, the main accused in the 2002 Godhra Sabarmati train fire case was granted ten days’ interim bail on the grounds that there was no one to take care of his wife and son during the coronavirus pandemic.

6. Election to RS seat held by late Amar Singh next month

Election to the Rajya Sabha seat vacated by late MP Amar Singh will be held on September 11, Election Commission of India announced on Friday. Amar Singh had passed away on August 1, 2020.

7. Kerala seeks CBI probe into death of man found in well

The Kerala government has sought a CBI probe into the Pathanamthitta incident where a man was found dead inside a well while he was in the custody of the Kerala Forest Department.

8. SC allows Prayushan prayers in 3 Jain temples in Mumbai

In the wake of Ganesh Chaturthi, the apex court allowed devotees to offer Paryushan prayers in three Jain temples in Mumbai and said no permission for prayers would be given for any other temple in the city.

9. Chennai drug peddler killed in police encounter

In a bid to escape after attacking a constable in Tamil Nadu, a drug peddler involved in murder cases was killed in a police 'encounter'. The police, who fired three rounds at the accused, had warned him after he attacked the constable.

10. Former Goa CM Ravi Naik tests positive for Covid-19

Congress MLA and former Goa CM tested positive for coronavirus on Friday. He is the second former Chief Minister and the fifth state legislator to test positive for the lethal virus.
