The Indian Army on Friday successfully thwarted an attempt by Pakistan-backed terrorists to smuggle in weapons from Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Indian Army personnel deployed at the Keran Sector of North Kashmir thwarted an attempt by Pakistan Army-backed terrorists to smuggle weapons from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

2. Rajasthan priest's kin refuse to cremate body till demands are met

Family members of the priest, who was allegedly burnt alive by land encroachers in Karauli's Bukna village, have refused to perform the last rites of his body till all their demands are met by the state government. Earlier on the night of October 8, a priest died after being set on fire allegedly by five people who wanted to encroach on temple land in Karauli's in Bukna village.

3. DU student beaten to death over friendship with woman, 5 held

An 18-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly over his friendship with a woman following which two people, including her brother, were arrested and three others apprehended. The woman's brother and a relative have been arrested and three juveniles apprehended in connection with the incident.

4. Ram Vilas Paswan to be accorded state funeral today

Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan will be accorded a state funeral at a ceremony in Patna on Saturday. Paswan (74), died at a private hospital in the national capital on October 8 after recently undergoing heart surgery.

5. 'Non-bulletproof trucks for jawans': Rahul Gandhi's jibe at Modi over VVIP plane

Launching an attack on the Centre over the purchase of two VVIP aircraft, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that soldiers are being sent to become "martyrs in non-bulletproof trucks" while the government has Rs 8,400 crore aircraft for Prime Minister.

6. Loan moratorium period cannot be extended: RBI informs SC

The Reserve Bank of India(RBI) has informed the Supreme Court that it cannot extend the loan moratorium period beyond August 31, 2020, as it was a part of the immediate regulatory response to deal with the pandemic and extending it will have an adverse impact on the economy.

7. Ex-PM Sharif ordered to appear before Pakistan court

Islamabad High Court has issued a written order in the proceedings on the appeal in Al-Azizia and Avenfield corruption references. Last year, the court granted Sharif, who is currently in London, an eight-week bail in the Al-Azizia reference on medical grounds which lapsed in February.

With Russia's mediation, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to a cease-fire in Nagorno-Karabakh starting at noon Saturday following two weeks of heavy fighting that marked the worst outbreak of hostilities in the separatist region in a quarter-century.
