This soldier's father who fought war of 1965, 1972, 1975 and lost his son during Kargil war

Sepoy Vinod was posted at Kargil in the Rashtriya Rifle regiment as a gunner. During the war of Kargil, he lost his life while battling with the terrorists. His father, Nepal Singh, a retired soldier, who also fought the war of 1962, 1965 and 1975, gets emotional while commemorating the childhood memories of his martyred son.

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh): As the Kargil Vijay Diwas approaches on July 26th every year, father of martyred Sepoy Vinod Kumar, who had also fought with the enemies during the war of 1962, 1965 and 1975, gets emotional while commemorating the childhood memories of his son.

Sepoy Vinod was posted at Kargil in the Rashtriya Rifle regiment as a gunner. During the war of Kargil, he lost his life while battling with the terrorists.

"He was highly enthusiastic to join the defence forces. When I got retirement from the armed forces, he narrated his desire to join the army. Despite knowing the uncertainty of life, I gave him a green signal to serve for the country", said Nepal Singh.

He served the nation for almost 12 years and at the age of 35, lost his life during the Kargil war.

"As I had served the nation for almost 20 years, that's why I was not surprised when I received a call from his unit. Today, I feel proud to say that my son sacrificed his life while saving the entire nation", added the father of martyred Vinod Singh.

He was conferred with the Kirti Chakra (Posthumously), the second-highest peacetime gallantry award for displaying exceptional valour in the presence of the enemy.
