'Thank you ETV Bharat' says, a young military officer for live streaming POP program from IMA academy

As the passing out parade was live-streamed by ETV Bharat, a newly appointed officer applauded the efforts of the media organisation and greeted with a vote of thanks. This was the first time that the POP was organised without the parents of the young officers due to coronavirus pandemic.

Dehradun (Uttarakhand): As many as 333 cadets were commissioned into the Army after a passing-out parade at the Indian Military Academy here. As many as ninety candidates from nine other nations, including Afghanistan, Mauritius, Maldives, Tajikistan and Fiji, too passed out from the academy after completing their training.

The parents or relatives of cadets usually pip-in the ranks on the shoulders of cadets after the passing out parade, they become commissioned officers in the Indian Army.

Army General Chief MM Naravane, the chief guest of the event too joined in the pipping ceremony by putting a star on the uniform of a young cadet.

Army General Chief asked the young officers to maintain discipline, stressing that no war can be won without it.

As this was the first time in the history that the POP was live-streamed on media channels, Youtube and social media amid coronavirus pandemic.

While talking to ETV Bharat, a newly appointed officer thanked the media organisation for streaming the program live.

"My family could not join the POP physically but due to the efforts of ETV Bharat, they must have watched the program live", said the officer.

When asked about the posting, the officer said that he has a strong desire to get his first posting near Pakistan border but unfortunately he got his posting somewhere else.

It is to be noted that the passing out parade symbolises the culmination of rigorous training and transformation of a cadet into a young officer to shoulder the nation's responsibility.
