Students should not forgo examinations this year, says former CBSE chairman

Former chairman of CBSE Ashok Ganguly advised the students not to forgo examinations as they may end up facing difficulties later on in finding a good career option for themselves. He also suggested that parents should also consider this matter and deal with it seriously.

Hyderabad: Amid lot of uncertainties with the parents and students to forgo examinations for a better assessment in the upcoming year, educationist and former chairman of CBSE urged students not to forgo examinations. He advised the students to go ahead and also suggested that parents should deal with this matter seriously.

While talking to ETV Bharat, former Chairman of CBSE Ashok Ganguly said, "There has been a lot of apprehensions with the students as they were well prepared for the examinations. I have spoken to students about it and have suggested them not to forgo examinations this year. I told them categorically that they may not get the right marks in the examinations or they may find difficulty in building a good career option and right subject combination next year if they miss out on this year."

"Stressing upon the need for the parents to look into this matter, educationist, Ganguly added, "Students should go ahead and give the examinations this year. Accept the board results and if necessary, appear for the improvement examination. But don't forgo examinations and waste an entire academic year. I would also suggest the parents to look into this matter and make their kids understand."

CBSE on Friday announced that results for class 10 and 12 exams will be declared by July 15. In the latest notification issued by the Board, students of class 12th are allowed to appear for an improvement exam but Class 10th students will not be given an option.

As per the scheme, results of class 10 and 12 students, who have completed all their exams, will be declared based on their performances in the exams. However, the students who opt to sit for those exams, their performances in the exams will be treated as the final score.
