Hathras: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the Hathras incident, arrived at the victim's residence on Sunday morning to record statements of her family members. As the victim's father's health deteriorated, SIT requested medical team for aid. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal visited the alleged gangrape incident site.
On the other hand, on the basis of SIT's first report, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already suspended the Hathras Superintendent of Police, DSP and other police officers. Their polygraph and narcoanalysis tests have been recommended.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Saturday also recommended a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the case. It was directed in the wake of protests organized by the Opposition parties and civil society against the UP government across the country.
Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also visited the family on Saturday. The 19-year-old Hathras woman died in Safdarjung hospital, Delhi on September 29. All four accused in the incident have been arrested. She was admitted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University after she was left partially paralysed before being shifted to Safdarjung hospital.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, which has taken cognisance of the murder and alleged rape of a 19-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras, is also following up the developments in the case. Sources in the Ministry said that the direction from Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been sent to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to ensure that justice must be delivered. For this, the Ministry is following up on steps taken by the Uttar Pradesh government to ensure that the accused are apprehended and the victim's family is safe.
Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh ADG Prashant Kumar's claimed that absence of semen from the body of Hathras victim suggested that she was not raped. Legal experts debunked the theory arguing that there would be the presence of semen only if medical examination was done immediately after the rape.
